Ryerson was principal flutist with the Monterey Bay Orchestra in the early ‘90’s, NFA Jazz Chair 2005-’10, founder of the NFA Jazz Flute Big Band, and author of the popular Jazz Flute Practice Method book.  Ali has presented her weeklong annual Jazz Flute Master Class in California since 2002, conducts master classes worldwide in various locations such as New Mexico, Canada, Italy, Holland, New Zealand, Eastman School of Music, and has taught on the faculty of the Litchfield Jazz Camp, IJAM JAZZ summer camp in Italy, and as visiting faculty member at The Jazzschool in Berkeley, California.  A cum laude graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Ali’s classical training was with Harold Bennett and John Wion.  Ali Ryerson is a Gemeinhardt Artist and Clinician, with an Autograph Series of flutes she helped design. It was voted among the top new products at Namm in 2012.

August 2013 marked the CD release of The Ali Ryerson Jazz Flute Big Band, GAME CHANGER, on Capri Records, which debuted at #24 on the Jazz Charts.
