CARLA VAN BLAKE
Singer-songwriter Carla Van Blake, who has performed for Santa Fe Music Collective and the Outpost as a featured vocalist, was born in the Appalachian Mountains in the early 1950's and raised in a remote area of West Africa. She now resides in Albuquerque. Her musical career started in the church as a second generation gospel singer while her adult career began in 1993 when she copyrighted her first collection of songs and was featured in California Jazz Now magazine as a promising upcoming artist.
Her culturally diverse early musical influences are reflected in her songwriting and she has created several collections of work that feature a wide variety of genres, including a Contemporary Christian collection, portions of which appear on her recently released CD, Latter Rain.
Carla often employs unusual handmade instruments in her songwriting, such as the Idiopan. We are extremely pleased to have Carla performing, once again, here in Santa Fe.
