Warren Vaché
is a supremely accomplished, versatile and rare performer. He has been
astounding audiences worldwide for decades with his superb cornet, trumpet and
flugelhorn stylings. Through live performances and recordings, along with
stage, screen, radio and television appearances, Warren conveys incredible
warmth through his burnished tone and intelligent improvisations.
He has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Benny Goodman, Rosemary Clooney, Benny Carter, Hank Jones, Gerry Mulligan, Woody Herman, and Bobby Short – to name but a few. Warren can also be found in the company of such leading contemporaries as Phil Woods, Jon Faddis, Howard Alden, John Allred and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
Warren has performed at every major jazz venue and festival throughout the globe from club dates at Condon’s and the Blue Note to the Newport Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival and Perugia in Italy – including concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Vienna Opera, and the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Just when you think you can predict how Vaché might finish off a phrase or interpret a given song, he turns quite another way or the tune receives a totally new treatment. In Vaché, jazz has found a musician whose prodigious, hard-earned skills enable him to craft swinging performances of beauty, emotion, and surprise.
Sometimes narrowly classified as a swing musician, Warren regularly defies this or other labels. Vaché has listened to and absorbed all styles of music. His trumpet heroes include Louis Armstrong, Roy Eldridge, Bobby Hackett, Fats Navarro, Tom Harrell, and Ruby Braff. Shunning imitation, he is able to evoke some of the best from these and other models, creating an individual cornet voice, one that stresses purity of tone.
