As her travels take her within striking distance of Santa Fe, once again we are proud to present world class jazz flute player Ali Ryerson at The Museum Hill Café. Ali has helped us build our non-profit presenters organization into what it is today. Come help us celebrate our 5th anniversary as she delivers a menu of jazz standards and Brazilian gems written by our neighbors to the south.  Always a consummate professional, Ali Ryserson has played and recorded with the biggest names in jazz.  No matter what the size of the audience, you will undoubtedly be treated to a magical musical performance that you
will never forget.
Ali will be appearing at The Outpost Performance Space on Thursday Oct. 4th with Bert Dalton’s Brazil Project

With a career spanning four decades, jazz flutist ALI RYERSON continues to tour, record and teach master classes internationally. Consistently voted among the top jazz flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll and honored as Jazz Flutist of the Year nominee by the Jazz Journalists Association, Ryerson has released nearly two dozen recordings on major jazz labels such as Concord, DMP, Capri Records, and legendary jazz producer Bob Thiele’s Red Baron. Ryerson has recorded and/or toured with jazz icons such as Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, Joe Beck, Mike Mainieri, Roy Haynes, Hubert Laws, Stephane Grappelli, Art Farmer and Red Rodney, to name a few, as well as classical artists Julius Baker and Luciano Pavarotti.

Ryerson was principal flutist with the Monterey Bay Orchestra in the early ‘90’s, NFA Jazz Chair 2005-’10, founder of the NFA Jazz Flute Big Band, and author of the popular Jazz Flute Practice Method book. Ryerson has presented her weeklong annual Jazz Flute Master Class in California since 2002, conducts master classes worldwide in various locations such as New Mexico, Canada, Italy, Holland, New Zealand, Eastman School of Music, and has taught on the faculty of the Litchfield Jazz Camp, IJAM JAZZ summer camp in Italy, and as visiting faculty member at The Jazzschool in Berkeley, California. A cum laude graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Ali’s classical training was with Harold Bennett and John Wion. Ali Ryerson is a Gemeinhardt Artist and Clinician, with an Autograph Series of flutes she helped design. It was voted among the top new products at Namm in 2012.

August 2013 marked the CD release of The Ali Ryerson Jazz Flute Big Band, GAME CHANGER, on Capri Records, which debuted at #24 on the Jazz Charts. The album features Ryerson’s groundbreaking 19-piece jazz flute ensemble, with a guest appearance by NEA Jazz Master Hubert Laws. And, now the CD entitled Café Colombo has been released (2017).
